Frogs are amphibians and are cold blooded. They live almost everywhere in the world, except where it is very cold.
They have smooth, moist skin, and small teeth on their upper jaw. Their long, powerful back legs have four joints. The frog's hip is just one joint where the knee is and two at the ankle. Frogs can be any color or size.
The Platte River Watershed is an important home to many species of frogs including the Leopard Frog, Wood Frog, Gray Tree Frog and the Green Frog. These amphibians are quite susceptible to chemical pollution in our streams and their presence is considered to be an excellent indicator of environmental quality.
