We would like to give a shout out to one of our exchange students, Lili Lezeaux, on finishing her amazing ceiling tile to be displayed in the High School Art Room for years to come!

Lili was one of 6 amazing exchange students that walked the halls of Benzie Central this school year! Lili is from France and wants to be an occupational therapist.

Benzie Central Hiking Club hikes Beaver Island

Yesterday, the Benzie Central Hiking Club hosted a trip to Beaver Island.

Students joined Mrs. Whaley, Mr. Jarnot, Mr. Hammar, Ms. Pritchett, and Mr. Stewart on the trip, taking the early ferry from Charlevoix to Beaver Island and returning in the evening.

On the island, students explored the shops and restaurants in St. James, hiked out to the Beaver Island Harbor Lighthouse, and trekked down to the Little Sand Bay Nature Preserve.

The Benzie Central Hiking Club's monthly events are open to all Benzie Central students in grades 9-12 and will resume in September.

--ALL DAY HIKING TRIP TO BEAVER ISLAND--

On June 6, the Benzie Central Hiking Club is hosting an all-day trip to Beaver Island.

Students will depart the high school at 6:00 AM, take the ferry from Charlevoix to Beaver Island, spend the day on Beaver Island, then return to BCHS around 10:00 PM.

All BCHS students in grades 9-12 are invited to attend.

Students will need to bring $67 with them to purchase a roundtrip ferry ticket from Charlevoix to Beaver Island.

Rides from BCHS to Charlevoix may be available for students who are not driving themselves.

For more information, please pick up an information sheet and permission slip in the high school office, or see Mr. Stewart in Room 225.

Permission slips must be returned by this coming Wednesday, June 3.

Benzie Central Baseball honors their 2026 Seniors last night in a ceremony after the conclusion of game 2.

We thank our seniors for their hard work, dedication, leadership, and hours dedicated to the program.

Parents, we thank you for your support and the countless hours dragging "that chair" around, or "comfortably" sitting on those extra cushy and reclining bleachers.

You never got wet, it was never cold or windy, and the sun was shining always!

The Benzie Central Hiking Club hosted its May hike on Saturday. Students joined Ms. Pritchett, Mr. Jarnot, Ms. Smith, and Mr. Stewart on Alligator Hill Trail at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It was another beautiful day for a hike!

Zickert signs letter of Intent

It is with great pride that we congratulate Rowan Zickert on his commitment to Jackson College to continue his Academic and Athletic Career in the sport of Basketball.

Rowan is a multiple-time, All-Conference Basketball and Football Player.

While excelling on the Basketball court as a point guard, Rowan also excels in the classroom, he carries a 3.88 GPA and has completed numerous Honors classes and Dual Enrollment classes during his time at Benzie Central on his way to becoming a Top Ten student for the class of 2026.

He is a great representative of Benzie Central and his family.

We just love, love, love this!

On Sunday, the Benzie Central Hiking Club hosted its first hike.

Students joined Mr. Stewart, Ms. Pritchett, Mr. Hammar, Mr. Jarnot, Ms. White, Mr. Fischbach, and Mrs. Fischbach to hike Treat Farm Trail, near Empire.

It was a perfect morning to be outside and take in the beautiful views!

The Benzie Central Hiking Club will be hosting a hike every month during the school year.

Benzie Central students in grades 9-12 are welcome to participate at no cost.

May's hike will be held on Saturday, May 9 at Alligator Hill Trail, west of Glen Arbor.

Students can get further information and permission slips from the high school office or from Mr. Stewart in Room 225.

“At Lake Ann Elementary there will never be a way to fill the void of our incredible Mr. Marshall.

But today, on this week with Earth Day, we were able to plant an everlasting memorial Yoshino Cherry tree in his memory.

Our 5th grade class organized and led a tree planting ceremony by reading poems and sharing memories of our dear mentor and friend. Mrs. Marshall was presented with hanging baskets to thank her for attending and for sharing her amazing husband with all of us.

Mr. Marshall touched the hearts and influenced the lives of our entire Lake Ann Elementary community more than he will ever know. ”

"Benzie Central's Science Olympiad team wrapped up their 2026 season with a strong showing at the State Tournament this weekend.

Competing against the 68 best teams in Michigan, the Varsity team finished 45th overall after winning the Region 2 championship last February.

With a team primarily composed of new Freshmen and graduating seniors this year, Benzie Central proved its consistency across several events and continues to improve, gain experience, and raise the bar each season.

This year, the school placed highly in events such as Astronomy (19th, Piper Barnard & Aven Sprague), Robot Tour (23rd, Khloe Moore & Owen Sutherland), Designer Genes (26th, Piper Barnard & Moraya Mosher), and Forensics (27th, Moraya Mosher & Izadora Pearson). Most impressively, freshman Malcolm Fettes and partner Khloe Moore earned a 7th place medal (the highest any Husky has ever scored at the State competition!) for the hovercraft that Malcolm built and tested over the course of several months.

We are so proud of how far this group has come and excited about their future success.

It is with great pride that we congratulate Carson Case on his commitment to The University of Olivet to continue his Academic and Athletic Career.

Carson is a multiple-time, All-Conference Basketball Player.

He was named All State this past season, as well as one of the Top Shooters in the State of Michigan.

He is only the 11th player in Benzie Central history to reach 1,000 points. While excelling on the Basketball court, Carson also excels in the classroom, he carries a 4.11GPA and has completed numerous Honors classes and Dual Enrollment classes during his time at Benzie Central on his way to becoming the Salutatorian for the class of 2026.

He is a great representative of Benzie Central and his family.

Lisa will be our Betsie Valley Elementary Principal, effective July 1, 2026.

It is safe to say that Betsie Valley Elementary will be in good hands!

Lisa Migazzi, M.Ed. is an educator, leader, and community connector dedicated to improving outcomes for children, families, and schools.

With a career spanning classroom teaching, nonprofit leadership, and regional STEM strategy, she brings a unique blend of instructional expertise, organizational leadership, and systems-level thinking to her work.Lisa currently serves as an educator at Leland Public School, where she designs and adapts curriculum to meet the diverse needs of all learners while contributing to school improvement and curriculum development efforts.

Her passion for creating inclusive, engaging learning environments is grounded in years of experience across grade levels and school settings, where she has consistently been recognized for fostering strong student achievement and a positive classroom culture.

Previously, Lisa served as Chief Executive Officer of the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center, after holding the role of Director of Intervention Services.

In that role, she led organizational strategy, operations, and community partnerships to support children impacted by abuse.

She strengthened multidisciplinary collaboration, expanded advocacy resources, and maintained high levels of client satisfaction while supporting efforts to secure critical funding.Lisa’s leadership extends to regional education systems through her work as a MiSTEM Regional Director, where she supported STEM implementation across multiple districts, managed grant funding, and facilitated partnerships between schools, industry, and community organizations.

Her ability to connect stakeholders and align resources has made her a trusted collaborator and strategic leader throughout Northwest Michigan.A U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Lisa served eight years in a variety of roles, including as a Health Service Technician (Corpsman), where she provided medical care, managed regional pharmacy operations, and led training initiatives. She was a certified EMT and also served in law enforcement as a boarding team member, further strengthening her skills in high-pressure decision-making and public safety.

Her military service instilled a deep sense of discipline, service, and leadership that continues to guide her professional work today.

Lisa holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University and maintains a Professional Education Certificate in the State of Michigan.

She is widely recognized for her ability to build meaningful relationships, lead with integrity, and create environments where students, staff, and communities can thrive.

This is what Lisa had to say on her newly appointed role at Betsie Valley Elementary.

"I am incredibly excited to begin this journey and look forward to partnering with all of you, the leadership team, the staff, and the broader school community. Registration is now open for the Husky Robotics Summer Camp offered in partnership with Northwestern Michigan College - College for Kids!

It is held at Benzie Central Middle School.

Very generous scholarships are available for residents of Benzie County Michigan and it is open to all students who will be in 6th-8th grade next school year.

Let's get ready to rumble! Design, build, and program a robot to compete in a challenge designed exclusively for the Husky Robotics Summer Camp with College for Kids.

Learn to control robots using the VEX IQ platform and compete in a fun freeze tag robot battle!

Each day will include group activities, mechanism and programming lessons, building time, outside time, and a small snack. Join the award-winning Husky Robotics program for a fun and exciting week!

Tutoring Sessions - Grades 6-12

After-School tutoring has begun.

Tutoring will be offered from 2:50 PM - 3:50 PM in the high school library every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

All students, graders 6th-12th, are encouraged to attend if they need some extra help from a teacher or a dedicated time to study and catch up on work.

If transportation is a challenge, we can provide you with a Benzie Bus pass.
