Congratulations to Benzie Central Junior, Alta Alpers

Benzie Central loves nothing more than to celebrate the academic successes of their very own.

Today, as well as in the upcoming days, let's all take a moment to congratulate and celebrate Benzie Central Junior, Alta Alpers.Alta was accepted to Interlochen Arts Academy for Visual Arts, to begin her senior year; 2026/27.

Alta submitted her Visual Arts Major portfolio:She submitted 9 of her art pieces, 1 observation piece, and participated in an interview process.

Interlochen Arts Academy is a highly prestigious, recognized as a leading arts institution with top rankings (like #1 for arts high schools by Niche.com), world-renowned faculty, competitive admissions, and a vast network of successful alumni in music, theater, and film. Its programs, including the summer camp and boarding academy, offer intensive training and unparalleled opportunities for young artists, attracting serious talent globally.

After Alta's financial aid award, and a $12,000 merit scholarship, her remaining balance is $28,000.00.

Pictured: Alta (10th grade - 24/25)-Her artwork was accepted to the prestigious Regional Art Show hosted by the Crooked Tree Art Center in Traverse City, Michigan. The show includes some of the best Artwork from 39 schools throughout Northwest Michigan.

Our School of Choice 2nd Semester Open Enrollment Window is NOW OPEN.

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

Our 25-26 1st semester will end on January 16, 2026.  If you are interested in enrolling for 2nd semester, the enclosed Schools of Choice application form(s) must be completed and returned to the Central Business Office prior to January 16, 2026.  (Please note a separate application must be completed for each child.)

Following are the current guidelines incorporated into our Schools of Choice Policy:

● Acceptance of applicants is at the discretion of the receiving school district and building preference is not guaranteed.  
● Students may be returned to resident school districts at any time during the school year pending grade level enrollment increases or if chronic behavior problems surface.  
● Transportation to and from school is not provided unless it can be accommodated through our established bus routes and stops.  
● Benzie County Central Schools waives all tuition fees.   
● School of Choice students must be accepted and enrolled by the first day of the 2025/26 school year. Semester time School of Choice Students should be accepted two weeks prior to the beginning of the second semester with an enrollment date of the 1st day of the second semester.

Give Local-

Make you Meal Matter at Culver's 101 US Highway 31 S in Traverse City.

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Culver's will donated a percentage of their sales from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM to our Benzie Central travel program.

Our Benzie Central travel students will be working in the dining room that evening. 

Stop in and meet them!

These funds will help our students get to their Washington, D.C. trip in March of 2026. 

Benzie Central would like to thank Culver's for their neighbor helping neighbors community support endeavors.

Congratulations to our incredible choirs under the direction of Mrs. Kirsten Cline.

Your performances were absolutely pitch-perfect, and your voices blended beautifully.

 It was a phenomenal concert and and all of your hard work and dedication was evident with every note.
