About Us
Benzie Academy is the central hub for your Non-traditional education and distance learning. Benzie Academy is designed to meet the needs of our students who want an education in a non-traditional approach while maintaining the caring relationships of Benzie Teachers and Staff. Students are provided with a variety of options that can lead to graduation and are supported by services for the student and their immediate family that are essential to success.
Academy Option
While each alternative education program is unique, they share characteristics identified in the research as common to successful alternative schools:
- Maximum teacher/student ratio of 1:15

Interested in attending Benzie Academy?
- Review the Online Readiness Rubric to see if you would be a good candidate
- See Mrs. Jones in the athletic office for an application (7th through 12th grades)
- Filling out an application does not guarantee that you are accepted.
- If you are accepted you are there for the school year.
- 6th graders are accepted on a case by case basis
- Applications are considered TWO weeks prior to the semester beginning. All applications submitted after this, will be considered for the next semester start
Applications must be filled out completely and signed in order to be valid.

Students who are not residents of our district, must fill out a School of Choice application.

Parent Permissions are needed to be enrolled in online courses. Students who are 18 years of age or older, may sign themselves.
Why Benzie Academy?
A one size fits all education does not meet the needs of all of our students and Benzie Central understands this and helps to facilitate an alternative setting.
The Benzie Academy helps students who for one reason or another can’t be in a regular school setting to achieve their goal of a high school diploma.
