Carla Gipson

 

Director of Curriculum, Professional Learning, and Systems

Carla Gipson has over 30 years of experience in education serving as the Director of Learning and Assessment in Hong Kong, Curriculum and Assessment Specialist and teacher trainer in the Middle East, and as an Instructor of Biology and Ecology at Interlochen Arts Academy, English and Journalism teacher at Glen Lake, and English and Science teacher at Bear Lake.  Other roles include accreditation facilitator and school preparer for WASC, AdvancED/Cognia, NEASC/CIS, and KHDA/DSIB school evaluations and inspections. She has led evaluations, served as a team member, and edited reviews for AdvancED.

Currently, she is a co-author of Sustainable Development Goals at the Sherpa Institute, past president and treasurer for the Benzie Beta Gamma chapter of DKG International Society for Key Women Educators, and founder of Beyond Brick & Mortar LLC, an international education consultancy.

She is a Benzie native and lives with her adult children, AJ and Marya, her Great Pyrenees dog, “Hope”, her cat from Dubai, “Sheikh Copper”, and her 11 chickens led by Head Hen, “Stella Ruth”.

Carla has a BS in English and science, MA in Communications, K-12 Administration certification, and doctoral work in Education Leadership.

She is pleased to be a part of our Benzie Central team.
