I grew up in Burton, MI south of Flint. After high school I moved to Kalamazoo and worked for several years in banking, social services, and business before graduating from Western Michigan University with a teaching degree in elementary education.
After marrying my husband, Michael, I moved to West Virginia where I taught gifted students in grades K-8 for the next 18 years.
After Michael’s children were grown it was time to pursue my dream of living in northern Michigan. I had always come to northwestern Michigan to backpack, hike, and camp, hoping to someday live here. In 2005 we found the perfect house near Benzonia. Michael was hired to teach in the Wexford-Missaukee ISD. I was hired to teach 2nd grade at Platte River Elementary in 2008. The next year I was assigned to Crystal Lake Elementary where I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and, 1st grade.
My hobbies are reading, gardening, snowshoeing, and enjoying time with my husband and 2 cats.
