9th-12th Counselor
Jeanett Joy Gonyon Pritchett is a native of Benzie County born in Frankfort and Benzie Central Alumnus who received her B.S. in Elementary Education with a double concentration in Math and Science from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She earned her Master of Arts degree in School Counseling from New York University. She taught middle school math and science at Berkshire Middle School in Birmingham, MI, and has worked most of her counseling career in both nonprofit agencies and New York City public schools. She previously taught graduate-level courses as an adjunct professor at NYU Steinhardt and continues to mentor new counselors. Jeanett relocated with her 3 boys back to Michigan in 2019 and has worked the past 4 years as an Academic and College Counselor at Interlochen Arts Academy. Jeanett’s specialty is in peer mediation and conflict resolution with an emphasis on self-advocacy and social-emotional regulation. Jeanett is also a certified meditation coach and yoga teacher who offers classes and workshops locally. Her greatest joy has been watching her sons take advantage of the opportunities Benzie Central has to offer with the excellent support of really great teachers and coaches!
