Kyle Locke

Secondary Social Studies

Mr. Locke grew up in small town West Michigan and graduated from Spring Lake High School as a member of the Class of 2006.  He went on to discover the world was bigger than he could ever have imagined as a younger person.  While in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan completing his major in history and minor in Spanish, Mr. Locke studied abroad for a semester in Segovia, Spain.  After graduating college, he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach English at a public high school in Madrid for a year, and traveled extensively throughout the country, as well as greater Europe.

Upon returning to the U.S. in the fall of 2012, Mr. Locke embarked on a teaching career that has taken him from classrooms in Detroit, to New York City, and back again to Michigan.  While in New York, he took his teaching to the next level and earned his master’s in secondary social studies education.  He has too many quotes to choose one clever one here, but recommends reading philosophy and daily reflection.  In his spare time, Mr. Locke loves enjoying the outdoors with his wife, playing the guitar, and staying active.

Mr. Locke is pleased to join our Benzie Central team.
