Mrs. Kik is currently our school counselor for Benzie Academy, grades 6-12, as well as the Interim Betsie Valley Elementary, Homestead Hills Elementary, and Lake Ann Elementary Counselor, grades K-5.

Becky has been in education/counseling for 22 years, with approximately 2½ of them being here at Benzie County Central Schools. She absolutely LOVES working here at Benzie Central, and has thoroughly enjoyed being a counselor for over two decades; finding that today’s children continue to show unlimited potential.

She grew up in Wisconsin, with counseling experience in both Wisconsin and Michigan. She earned her degree from Gustavus Adolphus in Education and later earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Northern Michigan University.

As a school counselor, Mrs. Kik’s role is to meet the unique needs of students while assessing their abilities, interests, and achievements. While serving her time here at Benzie County Central Schools, she has developed a number of partnerships with community businesses and colleges. Her Benzie Academy students have been introduced to new opportunities at Cherryland Electric, Lear Corporation, Electrical and Pipefitters Unions, Moore Mechanical, Traverse City Beauty College, and Great Lakes Culinary. Becky has also reached out to Ferris State University, Northwestern Michigan University, Baker College, Centra Wellness, Grow Benzie and the Benzie Sunrise Rotary to assist in promoting more experiences for our youth.

Mrs. Kik supports her students daily by addressing her students academic, career and social emotional developmental needs. She devotes her time to apprenticeships/internships, scholarships, post-secondary/career development, FAFSA (Financial Aid), crisis counseling, connecting students and families with mental health resources, and planning and goal setting.

Becky plays an integral role in our safety assessment team, and is also working on our puberty lessons while assisting our students with their transition from 5th to 6th grade.
